OUR SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

The vision of 1456 Produções, producer of the TERRA SAGRADA festival, is to introduce a new concept of international electronic music event in Africa that values exceptional landscapes while creating authentic moments with artists and DJs from different continents in an unusual environment. Between 1456 and 1460, the islands of the Cape Verde archipelago were discovered by Diogo Gomes and Alvise Cadamosto.

It is from this historic event that the company 1456 Produções inspires itself to design and carry out international music events, with the aim to encourage tourism in Africa and raise awareness for environmental protection.

1. We act with respect for the environment, people and animals. We promote a holistic vision of celebrations.

2. Our actions: awareness raising and training for the application of the #Zero Waste approach and the drafting of a Sustainability Plan for the Festival and similar events that aims to identify and limit environmental risks during partying. We work in collaboration with local NGOs and engage in beach cleaning, the use of eco-cups, recycling and waste management. These actions aim to raise awareness among participants and stakeholders.

3. 10% of our benefits are reinvested in the planting of trees. The planting of trees is an alternative response to the consequences of climate change. With the Terra Sagrada Plantation initiative, we want to contribute to a greener Cape Verde. #Planting trees#

4. Through our events, we want to respond to concrete challenges and combine celebration with sustainability and solidarity. Cape Verde, as an archipelago, experiences many vulnerabilities. As a small and little diversified market, there are high rates of youth unemployment. Terra Sagrada seeks to respond to some urgent challenges– job creation, low professionalization of young people and women, the risk of climate change, droughts.

5. We directly support NGOs, associations and social movements that defend the rights of women, youth and animals, as well as protect the planet's biodiversity. Festivalgoers can contribute and find NGOs on the festival venue.

6. We work with brands and suppliers that care about the environment and are socially responsible.

7. We work hand in hand with local communities and their community associations. They are our priority in terms of training and employment, as well as in terms of facilities that we seek to bring to their surroundings (access to water, electricity and wifi).

8. We aim to promote the development of new sustainable economic segments, encouraging policy makers and entrepreneurs to prioritize a sustainable tourism and market, with regard to resource management, environmental awareness and the promotion of renewable energies and new technologies.

9. Electronic music is the third most listened music genre in the world with a worldwide economic impact and an industry of 1.5 billion potential customers. We support this global trend and contribute to the diversification and expansion of the tourist and cultural offer in African countries, linking electronic music festivals to the existing national market and strengthening local markets in sustainable ways in areas as diverse as commerce, production events, art, transport, hospitality, security, restaurant/bar, communication/marketing, telecommunications, technical assistance, new technologies etc.

10. Energy self-sufficiency is one of the goals that our events seek to achieve in the long term.
